MINUTES OF RYDE TOWN COUNCIL’S GRANTS SUBCOMMITTEE HELD ON
WEDNESDAY 16 DECEMBER 2020 AT 2PM VIA THE ZOOM MEETING FACILITY

ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN
Cllr Lilley proposed Cllr Jordan and this was seconded by Cllr Chapman. A Vice
Chairman was not proposed as in the event of the Chairman being unable to attend
a Chairman for that meeting would be elected. There being no other nominations
it was
RESOLVED:
(i)
That Cllr Jordan be elected as Chairman
(ii)
That a Vice-Chairman not be elected

Apologies were received from Cllr Nancy Farrell.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
No declarations were received at this stage.

MEMBERS QUESTIONS
Cllr Jordan raised a question on the membership of another committee. The Clerk
responded accordingly.

TERMS OF REFERENCE AND GRANT POLICY
The Terms of Reference for this Committee together with the Grants Policy were
noted
6/20 COMMUNITY GRANT APPLICATIONS

(a) The Methodist Church Community Hall, Ryde
(As a representative of the Methodist Church was in attendance it was agreed
to consider this application first).
Consideration was given to the application for the replacement of windows at
the rear of the hall. It was noted that the hall was regualary used for community
groups.
RESOLVED:
That a community grant of £1,500 be awarded
(b) Bus and Coach Museum, Project Opera, IW NHS Ambulance Service
Volunteer Community First Responders (Ryde area), Ryde Rowing Club
As the total sum requested exceeded the budget available members agreed
to discuss the remaining applications before a vote was taken regarding the
individual amount of each award.
(i)
Bus and Coach Museum - it was suggested that the Mayor write to
the railway with a view to securing additional funding for the
substantial maintenance works to the building.
(ii)
Project Opera - Members were supportive of the application
(iii)
IWNHS Ambulance Service Volunteer Community First responders -
member were supportive of the application
(iv)
Rowing Club - Members were supportive of the application
RESOLVED:
That the following community granted be awarded:
Bus and Coach Museum - £3,000
Project Opera - £1,000
Ambulance Service Volunteer Community First Responders -
£2,300
Ryde Rowing Club - £800
Following the conclusion of this item it was noted that although a small surplus
remained there was unlikely to be sufficient budget remaining to hold another
round of grants in the current financial year.

GRANTS MADE UNDER DELEGATED POWERS
It was reported that a £200 grant had been awarded to Victim Support for the
purchase of security items and that £200 had been awarded to IW Music,
Dance and Drama Festival 2021.
