Meeting of the Full Town Council - 31st January 2022

Proposal:
That the Town Council gives awards to local residents to
commemorate the Queen’s jubilee.
Proposal By Way of Notice of Motion
1. Resolves as part of the Jubillee Celebrations to award 7 “magnificant” Ryde
residents born prior to 1940 the ‘Freedom of Ryde’ collectively for their magnificant
and substantial contribution to making the Ryde the Town it is today. One for every
decade of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
Nominations to be sought across the Town from organisations and residents. The
Honours Committee to select the 7 from nominations and present these to Full
Council for ratification.
2. Resolves as part of the Jubillee Celebrations to award and acknowledge Ryde
residents who were born after 1940 (all ages) who have significantly contributed to
making Ryde the Town it is today. Nominations to be sought across the Town from
organisations and residents. The Honours committee to decide a shortlist of
nominations.
All awards to be presented at an event that is part of the Jubillee celebrations.
Budget Implications
A budget of £2500 to be allocated from the Town Marketing budget.
