Consideration was given to the request by the Assets and Facilities Committee to increase the Decorative Lighting budget to £30,000 for the 2023/24 financial year.
The rationale for the requested increase is as follows:
Current Motifs are not fit for purpose and continually fail when installed.
The 4-year contract needs to be renegotiated with NDLE to enable us to rent the lighting from him, avoiding the need for purchasing replacement lights.
Hiring the lights directly from the contractor, which are newer and in better condition that our own, will save on staff time in dealing with faults.
With the completion of the Interchange project, additional festive lighting will need to be incorporated in the town plan.
