This is due to finish at the end of March 2024 but if we will keep the money, it can be used until it has run out. Currently (as of 12.3.24) we have £1,900 left of the total
£18,875.
We will be having a volunteer day on Saturday 23rd March for this joint project with Aspire and Riboleau studios. This has been advertised on posters, on press releases and on Facebook. We have had various offers of support of time from community members. Ryde School students continue to come along on Thursdays to help clear the garden. Aspire have funding for a 16 hr gardener and they will run an after school group for families to work with them to grow vegetables. We will also have a community group hopefully on a weekend that will run itself.
This continues to be a regular meeting each half of the term with relevant speakers. On 20th March we will have a representative from Ryde Family Centre to come along. This is a great opportunity to update them on all the relevant activities in Ryde as well as for them all to compare notes.
We have been given funding from Sovereign Network Group which will be match funded by RTC. Hopefully this will be increased by funding from SWR Community funding which we will hear about by the end of March. Michele Newton from Four Seasons Academy will be running courses in every Ryde primary school, and we will also offer two courses in the community (of 10 weeks) in early summer and the same again in the autumn.
This meeting continues to be useful to Ryde community groups. Recent speakers include the Ryde ‘local bobby’ PC Walker and Sergeant Browne and the Pop-Up Soup Kitchen. This month we will hear from St Vincent de Paul charity and Seetec.
This was formed at the request of the Community Forum to look at the housing crisis in the town. There are representatives from Men Only, Veterans Hotel and Hub, Aspire, a local landowner, RTC staff and Councillors, SNG and Southern Housing groups. We had a good meeting with IOW Housing staff and Councillors in December where good contacts were made, and issues were highlighted. On Friday 22nd March we will be having a presentation from John Prickett, the Community Led Housing Officer at the IOW Council.
