Title of Report: | Youth Work Manager’s Update |
Context: | Brief Update on activities at Network Ryde |
Report Author: | Bex Swan |
We have continued to offer a full and varied provision to young people since we have opened including new sessions that we have not previously been able to offer in our old space. We ran a selection of activities over the October Half Term, including our first Murder Mystery Event, where Cllr May agreed to be our victim.
Sadly, in October one of our volunteers, Lou Croain, sadly died unexpectedly so this has affected both the team and the young people as Lou had volunteered with Network Ryde for nearly 3 years. We held a session, supported by The Youth Trust for the young people to come and talk and offer support where needed. This support has also been offered to the team and we are hosting Lou’s Celebration of Life at the centre on 15th November.

We have been successful in gaining £10k for another social action project and this has now started with a new group of young people.
This is a fashion project being run from September – November looking at what youth work means to young people through the medium of fashion. We have 8 young people taking part and there will be a catwalk show on 3rd December.
We have been given some money to run cooking sessions for young people and we have a chef coming in to run three 6 week courses for us starting after half term and running until March 25 and we only have 4 spaces left!
