– Ryde in Bloom 2022

Ryde in Bloom is blossoming for 2022 and, thanks to our sponsor Wightlink, it is going to be blooming marvellous! Ryde in Bloom is open to all residents in Ryde and we have 10 growing categories to suit all spaces.

We want more children to be involved and get growing at home or at school so we have partnered with the fantastic Haylands Farm to provide over 700 packs of seeds free of charge to Ryde Primary Schools.

The Mayor of Ryde, Cllr Lilley visited Oakfield Primary School and, along with some of the fantastic pupils at the Forest Hub, planted some Haylands Farm seeds. It was wonderful to see young people engaged and wanting to learn about the ecosystem. Cllr Lilley had a guided tour of the Forest school and pupils talked through all their ideas and plans. Ryde Town Council can’t wait to see the school’s entry to Ryde in Bloom.

We have three other fabulous schools, Dover Park, St Mary’s and Fiveways and their students taking part either via the school or at home.  As ever we encourage the children’s category to be creative with what they grow their seeds in, especially if they do not have a garden. This can be in anything: a wellington boot, pots and pans, jars, there is no limit to what the seeds can be grown in so let imaginations run wild!

If you’re a Ryde School and would like to get involved, please email Hannah.East@rydetowncouncil.gov.uk

Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield said: “We were really impressed by last year’s entries and can’t wait to see the town in bloom again this summer. As well as the colourful displays brightening up the town, Ryde in Bloom is also a great help to wildlife – something Wightlink is particularly keen to support. Good luck to everyone taking part.”
