– Public Notice – Proposed Merger of Almshouse Charities

The Trustees of Bristocke Almshouses and Augusta Wilder Almshouses are considering a proposed merger of the two charities.

Why is a merger being considered?

Rising operating costs and increasing regulatory requirements have made it necessary for the Trustees to explore whether working together could help secure the long-term sustainability, effectiveness, and resilience of the almshouses.

A merger could enable the charities to:

  • Share resources more efficiently
  • Strengthen governance and compliance
  • Improve long-term financial stability
  • Continue to provide high-quality accommodation and support for residents
