Ryde Town Council has appointed Councillor Richard May to serve as Mayor for 2023/24.

My aim for 2023/24 is to work with others to make Ryde a town that cares
for, inspires, and supports its residents. I have a particular focus on
children and young people, and will work to ensure that, as far as is
practicable the town is able to cater for their aspirations and needs.
We are well-placed to do this, working alongside our youth service, Network
Ryde, with close links to local schools and to the University of
Portsmouth. The establishment in the coming months of a Youth Council for
the town will help to ensure that our focus is appropriate.
The focus of the Mayor’s Charity this year will be to ensure equity of
access and resource for all our young people.’
