Men aged 65 and over are being encouraged to take advantage of a free, quick, and painless screening for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) – a serious condition that, if left untreated, proves fatal for around 82% of those affected.
The NHS AAA Screening Programme has been running successfully for 14 years across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, offering vital early detection that can save lives.
Screening takes just 10 minutes and is available at clinics held regularly in East Cowes, Ryde, Newport, and Freshwater.
Eligibility and how to book:
- Men aged 65 and over who have not previously been invited for screening
- You must be registered with a GP
- To book, call the number listed on the promotional poster. You can leave a message with your contact details and a member of the screening team will call you back.
If you know someone who fits the criteria—particularly those who turned 65 before the screening programme began—they may have missed their automatic invitation. Please encourage them to get in touch.
