– HIGH FRICTION SURFACING  WORKS ON THE ESPLANADE, RYDE – RYDE INTERCHANGE PROJECT UPDATE

High friction surfacing works are being undertaken at night and disruption will be minimal due to the nature of the works. The work involves laying a resin base and grit finish to the existing carriageway  and will therefore be quieter than previous night-time resurfacing work on this scheme.

The laying of the material which includes areas of green, red and buff, will be undertaken night works over eight shifts, between the following periods:

  • Week 1 – Monday 19th June 2023 – Thursday 22nd June 2023 (4 nights)
  • Week 2 – Sunday 25th June 2023 to Wednesday 28th June 2023 (4 nights)

During the night works (19:00 – 05:00) it will be necessary to implement various traffic management arrangements, including road closures on the Esplanade between Dover Street and St Thomas’ Street.  Local diversions will be in place, and as well as affecting local traffic, these works are expected to impact access to the bus station and taxi rank on Sunday 25th June 2023 from 19:00, where temporary provisions will be made for them in Union Street.

Access to and from Ryde Pier will remain at all times, albeit via local diversions at times.

Please be aware, these works are weather dependent, therefore, the date and duration may change if the conditions are not suitable.
