– VACANCY FOR A TOWN COUNCILLOR – RYDE MONKTONMEAD WARD JOIN US AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Following a recent vacancy, the Council is looking to co-opt a new Councillor to help represent the interests of local residents, contribute to key decisions, and support projects that improve life in our town.

WHAT DOES A COUNCILLOR DO?

As a councillor, you will:

  • Represent the views and concerns of local people
  • Influence decisions on local services and projects
  • Ensure you are well informed about local issues
  • Help manage local amenities, events, and resources
  • Attend Council meetings and meetings with residents
  • Work collaboratively with Councillors and Officers to ensure delivery of quality council services and projects.
  • Attend training

No prior experience is necessary—just enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to making a positive impact.

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?

To be able to be considered you must:

  • Be a British citizen, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, a qualifying EU citizen or an EU citizen with retained rights.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • And meet at least one of the following three qualifications:
    • You are and will continue to be, registered as a local government elector for the parish you wish to attend from the day of your nomination onwards.
    • You have occupied as owner or tenant any land or other premises in the parish area during the 12 months before the day of your nomination and the day of the election.
    • Your principal or only place of work during the 12 months before your nomination and the day of the election has been in the parish area

Application deadline:

All applications should be returned to the town Council by the 10am on the 09 June 2025.

Co-option will take place at the 24 June 2025 Full Council Meeting.
