– Help Prevent Wildfires in Our Parks and Open Spaces.

With the current hot, dry weather, the risk of wildfires is high. Even a small spark can quickly spread, putting people, wildlife, and our green spaces at risk.

Please help protect our local parks, open spaces and countryside by following this simple advice:

  • Do not use BBQs, fires or disposable grills in parks or open spaces.
  • Fully extinguish cigarettes and never discard them on the ground.
  • Take your litter home – glass bottles and jars can start fires in dry grass.
  • Stick to paths and avoid walking through dry grassland where possible.
  • Do not park on dry grass – hot vehicle exhausts can ignite vegetation.
  • Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 999.
  • Keep dogs under control to help protect sensitive habitats and wildlife.

For more information, visit the Wildfires page on the Isle of Wight Council website.

No flames. No sparks. Protect our parks.
