A new £100,000 community grants programme has been launched by Ryde Neighbourhood Board to support projects that will improve life in the town.
Applications of up to £20,000 are now being sought for a share of the money, which is available as part of the Government’s Pride in Place programme, which will see £19.5 million spent on improving the town over ten years. A sum of at least £100,000 will also be made available in subsequent years.
The 2026 grants programme aims to harness the energy, ideas and commitment of local people, organisations and businesses, helping the community thrive now and for years to come.
Applications are welcome from organisations to deliver projects that meet at least one of the following priorities, all aligned with the published Vision for Ryde and the programme’s objectives:
- Improve public safety, health and wellbeing for Ryde residents
- Increase access to learning opportunities for Ryde residents
- Strengthen and sustain volunteering opportunities in Ryde
- Improve sport, recreational and cultural opportunities in the town
- Enhance Ryde’s natural and built environment
- Support local business and employment
Rachael Randall, acting board chair and chair the board’s finance committee, said: “The launch of these grants marks an exciting milestone for the Pride in Place programme and, more importantly, for the Ryde community.”
“Pride in Place will bring significant investment into the town to help improve Ryde and make life even better for residents and visitors. The board has taken the necessary time to ensure the right structures are in place to meet Government requirements and deliver this funding effectively, and we are delighted to now be ready to unlock financial support that can lead to real, lasting improvements.”
“We know there is already a great deal of inspiring work taking place across the community to improve Ryde and the lives of its residents. This new funding can support even more projects and initiatives, and we look forward to seeing your ideas and proposals.”
The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday August 17. Following assessment, the first successful applicants will be announced after ratification by the Ryde Neighbourhood Board at its meeting in September.
The community grants programme will be just one way in which Pride in Place money will support local initiatives, with other funds also being available to support larger projects over the year and beyond. A total of £742,000 is available in the current financial year.
