Ryde in Bloom 2015

Ryde Town Council was pleased to announce the winners of the Ryde in Bloom 2015 Awards at a ceremony at the Pavilion Bar in Ryde on 12 November. The In Bloom theme for 2015 was Dig For Victory to Commemorate WW11. The town’s primary schools embraced this and produced some amazing projects filled with imagination with Greenmount Primary the Overall Winner and Binstead Highly Commended. A Special Award was made by the judges to Bailey Ann Manser from Haylands Primary in recognition of her enthusiasm towards the project. Overall winner of Ryde in Bloom was David Mansfield of Binstead and a special award was made to Mr and Mrs Firth, also of Binstead, for their contribution towards the Dig for Victory theme.

 

The contributions of community projects in the town to the In Bloom ethos were also recognised with South and South East in Bloom Certificates of Excellence being presented to Play Lane Millennium Green Red Squirrel Dell, Aspire, Millennium Green, Vernon Square Trust and others. Liam Sansom from the youth project at 54 St John’s Road was also presented with the John Worner Memorial Cup in recognition of his contribution to In Bloom. Special Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Community were made to Mr “Brummie’ Rollason for his work at Quarry Road Allotments and to Mr Terry Clarkson for going above and beyond his work as the Town Council’s Facilities and Allotments Officer.
